I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in Korean Studies at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). As a long-time K-pop fan, I was always interested in observing how others enjoyed it, as well as in reflecting on my experiences as a K-pop fan living in France, South Korea, and the US. In my research, I examine the power dynamics between K-pop fans inside and outside Korea, showing how these converge toward a contrasting, imagined sense of authenticity in K-pop. He is currently working on my book monograph, currently entitled K-pop Nation(alism): Narratives of Authenticity after the Korean Wave. My biases are Mark from NCT, San from ATEEZ, and Jungwon from Enhypen, and my favorite groups right now are Enhypen, ATEEZ, and NCT127.
